In the period of 31st of May to 08th of June 2014 in Belgrade, Serbia a seminar was held within the project named “Youth participation – More than a catchword” (YOUPA).

The seminar included total number of 48 participants from 2 countries members of the EU (Slovenia and Croatia) and 3 candidate countries for membership in EU (Serbia, Macedonia and Montenegro) who participated in the process of preparation of National Youth Reports – monitoring and evaluation of the implementation of the European Youth Strategy (2010 – 2018) in their countries. The aim of this project is to increase the capacities and knowledge of the national youth councils in the European countries and the candidate countries for membership in EU to participate in the creation of practical policies, therefore in the preparation of the national youth reports. Coalition SEGA participated on this seminar with 8 representatives, therefore as a result activity SEGA will prepare National Youth Report for Macedonia.

The project is financed by the EU, through the Youth in Action programme and implemented by the West Balkan Institute from Belgrade in partnership with Coalition of youth organizations SEGA from Macedonia, the Centre for civic education – Montenegro, Croatian youth network – Croatia, National Youth Council of Slovenia, KOMS – Serbia. The project is supported by the Serbian Ministry for youth and sport.

The Coalition of youth organizations SEGA in cooperation with the Peace Corps volunteers in Macedonia implements the Macedonia Model United Nations (MMUN) programme supported by the US Embassy in Macedonia third year in a row. The MMUN Programme aims to strengthen the capacities of young people in Macedonia in advocacy, lobbying, diplomacy, conflict resolution, public speaking and writing.

In Kavadarci on the 07 of June 2014, SEGA organized the third annual national Conference of the Macedonia Model United Nations with around 160 students from high schools and universities across Macedonia.


Several key speakers introduced the participants in the Conference during the official opening ceremonies: Ms. Monika Ilioska Kantardzioska – Programme Assistant of the Coalition of youth organizations SEGA, Ms. Janeen Dorsch – Action Director of Peace Corps Macedonia, Mr. Nikola Dekov – Director of ZONA Kavadarci, Ms. Laura Barbe – Peace Corps Volunteer, and Mr. Blerton Zejneli – Secretary General of the MMUN 2014 Conference.

Delegates simulated eight UN committees and bodies: Secretariat, General Assembly (GA), Security Council (SC), Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC), Human Rights Council (HRC), World Health Organization (WHO), UN Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), and UN Environment Programme (UNEP).


Each committee selected best delegates which were awarded with special certificates at the closing ceremonies.

This conference is the culmination of the Model United Nations program, and an opportunity for students to put all their training and preparation into action in a simulation of the real United Nations.

Coalition SEGA implements the project “Info Clubs” with support of the Ministry of labor and social policy and in partnership with the UNDP office in Macedonia.

All the information regarding the opportunities for practice, employment and additional education, the students, now will be able to receive from the new opened Info – Club at Campus 2 at the University of “Goce Delcev” in Stip.

This Info Club will be working at Campus 2 from the period of 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., every working day.

The Minister for labor and social policy attended the opening of the Info Club and emphasized the need and the importance from the opening of this kind of club.

This is a third club opened in Macedonia aiming to support young people and to provide reliable and timely information regarding the employment, the active measures for employment, as well as to build a bridge for better communication between the local business sector and young people.

The next info club will be open at the university in Bitola, in September this year.
