Signed memorandum of cooperation between Coalition SEGA and the Agency for youth and sport

Today, 3rd of March 2015 in the premises of Agency for youth and sport have been signed memorandums for cooperation between the Agency for youth and sport and Coalition of youth organizations SEGA for successful implementation of the project “Creation of Local Youth Strategies for the municipalities of Butel and Gazi Baba.

The Memorandum of cooperation was signed by  the director of the Agency for youth and sport Marjan Spaseski and the Executive director of SEGA, Zoran Ilieski, this process is a result of the long year collaboration between SEGA and the Agency for youth and sport in the processes of creation of local youth strategies in few municipalities in Macedonia.

The existence of qualitative youth policy at local level will contribute to real benefice and changes in every society. One of the key processes in the creation of youth policy is the creation of local youth strategies. Therefore, the direct inclusion of youth organizations is necessary, especially the inclusion of the municipalities in the processes of creation of local youth councils and creation of local youth strategies, because from this measures, young people and the municipalities itself will have a real benefit – emphasized the director Spaseski and addressed the mayors and Councils of the municipalities to be more active in the processes of creation of local youth strategies and councils.

The Executive director of Coalition of youth organizations SEGA, Zoran Ilieski, emphasized that SEGA have had excellent cooperation with the Agency of youth and sport in the last period, therefore the result of this cooperation has been the creation of 13 local youth strategies in 13 municipalities in Macedonia.

The project will be implemented in partnership with Coalition SEGA, Agency for youth and sport and the municipalities of Gazi Baba and Butel, and is financed by the General Secretary of the Government of R.M. The activities will be implemented till October 2015, when the created Youth Strategies are expected to be submitted to the Councils of the municipalities of Gazi Baba and Butel for their adoption and implementation.

The Association of local democracy agencies – ALDA and Coalition of youth organizations SEGA within the project “Yes, Today! Youth employment and social inclusion”, in the period of 02-06 March 2015 realizes study visit for representatives of youth organizations from Azerbaijan that visited the Agency for employment in Macedonia, where they have met with the measures that the Agency for Employment undertakes in order to increase the youth employment.

The aim of this study visit is to provide young people of Azerbaijan with the good practices and examples of decreasing unemployment in the developing countries and how to use those practices in their home countries. During the study visit, young people from Azerbaijan will exchange experiences with the Macedonian young people; therefore will encourage the intercultural exchange. Local youth activists will be part of the activities of the workshops aiming to enhance the communication and develop ideas that will provide new opportunities for people who live in their communities.

Slobodanka Aleksovska – Manager of the Center for employment in Skopje – “This project shows our good work and activities that we undertake for decreasing unemployment in Macedonia, especially the youth unemployment. I hope that what people have seen here will help them in the creation of different activities in Azerbaijan, aiming for young people to find job and to integrate in their society more successfully.”

Zoran Ilieski – executive director of Coalition SEGA: “This project we realize with ALDA presents that Macedonia has what to show regarding different innovations and activities for decreasing unemployment, especially youth unemployment. The social inclusion among youth is very important, and I am glad that young people from Azerbaijan will share experiences with young people from Macedonia”.

The Coalition of youth organizations SEGA in cooperation with the Pestalozzi Children’s Foundation organizes seventh intercultural exchange in Pestalozzi Children’s Village in Trogen, Switzerland. The intercultural exchange in Switzerland will be organized within the period of 13 - 27 April 2015, with participation of 40 high school students (born 1998/99), of 5 high schools from Ohrid, Struga, Gostivar, Shtip and Bitola. Each high school will assign one professor to participate as supervisor of the group of his city. Through different activities, the exchange will enable young people to learn about the principles of intercultural dialogue and communication, different values and tolerance among children and youth with different cultural background.

In the intercultural exchanges organized by the Coalition of youth organizations SEGA 240 students of 10 primary and 10 high schools from Prilep, Debar, Kumanovo, Tetovo, Kavadarci, Ohrid, Struga, Gostivar, Shtip and Bitola took participation. Students will travel to the Children’s Village in Trogen and will live together during the whole exchange and will attend interactive workshops on intercultural education and child rights, and will have opportunity to meet other group of their peers from Serbia and Switzerland which are part of the intercultural exchange programme in the village.

For the needs of the exchange the Coalition of youth organizations SEGA announces:

Call for selection of Supervisor - Coordinator for the intercultural exchange

Main responsibilities of the supervisor - coordinator:

  • Participation in the preparation period for the exchange
  • Participation in pre-departure workshop
  • Overall responsibility during the stay of the group in Trogen
  • Communication and coordination of the supervisors of the groups
  • Communication and coordination with the coordinators in Trogen
  • Communication with the contact person of the project
  • Planning and organizing excursions during the exchange
  • Coordination of the dissemination activities after the exchange

The applicants for the position supervisor - coordinator are required to follow this selection criteria:

  • Excellent knowledge and use of English or German (writing and fluent speaking)
  • Minimum 22 years of age
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Responsibility in committing assigned tasks
  • Ability for team work
  • Leadership skills
  • To come from member organization of SEGA

All candidates are required to submit the following documentation:

  • Cover (motivation) letter;
  • CV; and
  • Support letter of native organization.

Selected supervisor - coordinator will work on voluntary basis, since the project does not foresees any financial award. All costs of the supervisor - coordinator related to travel, accommodation, communication, food and excursions will be covered by SEGA and the Pestalozzi Children’s Foundation.
