(Prilep, 28.10.2011) Coalition of youth organizations SEGA organized an educational workshop for journalists in Prilep, on the topic: “Immigrants in Macedonia and their integration into the community "in which reporters were familiarized with the legislation and terminology for better writing their stories regarding immigrants.

Journalists were also familiarized with the strategy for immigrants with EU information services that provide information for immigrants and with the whole process of SEGA - identifying difficulties those immigrants in Macedonia face integrating into the community.

The interactive workshop, through examples from their personal stories, have confirmed that permanent immigrants in Macedonia face language barriers and difficulties satisfying health and social needs due to extensive regulation of their stay. Journalists stressed the evasion of institutions in regulating the status of immigrants in Macedonia and emphasized the need for changing the legislation in the field of education and employment when it comes to integration.

The next step of SEGA within this project is to inform citizens, and distribute leaflets in the square “Metodija Andonov Cento,” and survey citizens with the questionnaire, "what they know about the integration of this category of citizens".

The project "Granting opportunities for active learning" is the only such project in Macedonia, which addresses the category of "immigrants" who have temporary residence in Macedonia. The project goal is social integration of the immigrants in Macedonia and overcome the difficulties they encountered in the regulation of their stay. This project is being implemented in 7 countries, France, Bulgaria, Macedonia, Albania, Greece, Romania and Italy, and is managed by the Association of Local Democracy Agencies (ALDA) of France.
