ANOTHER YOUTH PARLIAMENT STARTED TO WORK

(Negotino 05/07/2011) By initiative of the Coalition of youth organizations SEGA, the Youth Parliament of Negotino started to function. With the support of the Local Self-Government of Negotino, the Youth Parliament held its first constitutive session in the premises of the municipality of Negotino. The President of the Youth Parliament presented the Book of procedures of the Parliament, and the next topic on the agenda was signing of the formal statements by the members of the Youth Parliament.

The Mayor of the municipality Negotino, Pane Trajkov, expressed his support to the Youth Parliament, and the Executive Director of the Coalition of youth organizations SEGA, Zoran Ilieski, emphasized the role, importance and necessity of the establishment of the youth parliaments in the municipalities. Afterwards, the director of SEGA, Ilieski, expressed his gratitude to the Mayor Trajkov, for the support due the establishment of the Youth Parliament in the municipality of Negotino.

Thereupon, the floor was taken by the local project coordinator, Jasmina Boshkova Samandova, representative of NGO Civil Centre for Prevention and Resocialization - Negotino.

The Youth Parliament is constituted of 25 young members of different profiles - political parties, NGOs, high school students and the Red Cross from Negotino.

The role of the Youth Parliaments is to collect ideas and opinions of young people and to work towards their realization, structural and procedural, through the Council of Youth in the municipality.

The project “Councils of Youth within the municipalities” is part of the Annual Programme of SEGA, supported with the CIVICA Mobilitas Programme (implemented by CIRa and financially supported by SDC).

YOUTH LEARN HOW TO ADVOCATE THEIR RIGHTS

(01-03 July, Shtip) Representatives of the Youth Parliament and Councils of Youth from Kavadarci, Strumica and Delcevo learned how to advocate the rights of the youth in their Municipal Councils and techniques and skills they should use in the Training for Advocacy and Lobbying organized by the Coalition of youth organizations SEGA in Hotel Oaza in Shtip.

“The aim of such trainings is to learn how to effectively lobby the city councilors, for decision making in the interest of young people. But, also to review the experiences and problems that the Councils of Youth face in their working within their respective cities” pointed Zoran Ilieski, the Executive director of the Coalition of youth organizations SEGA.

Representative of the Council of Youth in Shtip transferred the experience from the two-year successful working, which from its beginning achieved best results in advocating youth from Shtip in the Municipal Council.  

The Coalition of youth organizations SEGA continues the process of applying the models for youth participation in the decision making. Shtip, Radovish, Kavadarci and Strumica and Delcevo are the cities where the Councils of Youth function, and initiatives exist in other municipalities, in order to youth to address their needs in systematic manner. The project is supported by the Balkan Trust for Democracy.

The young MPs acquired skills for communication and team work

Recently SEGA conducted trainings for the members of the youth parliaments in Kavadarci (12-13 of February), Delcevo (15 of February) and Strumica (17 of February). The trainings were aimed at improving the communication skills and the team work of the members of the youth parliaments established in these 3 cities. Particular for these trainings is that they were conducted by 2 Peace Corps Volunteers in Macedonia, and therefore, the trainings were in English language. With these trainings SEGA continues to implement the project “Councils of Youth in the Local Self-Governments”, supported by the Balkan Trust for Democracy.

Предности и предизвици на Совети на млади во општините

(19 – 21 ноември 2010 год, Охрид ) Членови на Советите на млади и Младинските Парламенти,  формирани од 2009 година, во Штип, Радовиш и Ресен, со претставници од Коалицијата СЕГА одржаа семинар,во Охрид за улогата на Совети на млади во општините.

Целта на организирањето на овој семинар беше да се разменат искуства за функционирањето, предизвиците и пречките на Советите на млади и младинските парламенти во трите општини. Учесниците на овој настан  ги споделија  искуства за моменталната состојба, предизвици, можности и предности на младинските парламенти. Исто така  на овој семинар стана дискусија и за дефинирање на приоритетите за работа од сите постоечки младински проблеми и каков е ефектот од застапувањето и лобирањето пред Советот на општината.
