Conference “Actual needs of young people in the Republic of Macedonia”

The Coalition of youth organizations SEGA in cooperation with the Agency for youth and sport, as the final phase of the project “Research of the youth trends in the Republic of Macedonia” organized Conference in the hotel Holiday Inn – Skopje on topic “Actual needs of the young people in the Republic of Macedonia”.

The aim of this conference was to present the analysis and to generate recommendations for improvement of the young people’s life in the Republic of Macedonia according to the data and how to contribute in creating and implementation of youth policies in Macedonia.

The research findings related with education, employment, culture, leisure, sport, volunteering, and youth participation in NGO sector, were interesting for many relevant state institutions, including here the NGOs and media.

- After eight years, this is the first fundamental research about the youth trends, and we believe that it will be the basis of the discussion for adoption of a Law on youth – says Zoran Ilieski, executive director of the Coalition of youth organizations SEGA.

- The research will help to target the problems that young people are facing with, and these analyses give us concrete data about the types of problems that young people in everyday life are facing with – said at the conference Dime Spasov, director of the Agency for youth and sport.

The project “Research of the youth trends is supported with the CIVICA Mobilitas programme, implemented by the Center for Institutional Development.

On Friday - Conference “Actual needs of young people in the Republic of Macedonia”

The Coalition of youth organizations SEGA in the period of April – November 2010 implements the project: “Research on youth trends in the Republic of Macedonia”. The aim of this project is to give a contribution in developing and implementation of youth policies in Macedonia.

This research was conducted in 13 municipalities of the Republic of Macedonia: Bitola, Debar, Kavadarci, Kisela Voda, Cair, Kumanovo, Ohrid, Prilep, Sveti Nikole, Struga, Strumica, Tetovo and Stip.

In this occasion, as a final phase of the project implementation a Conference “Actual needs of young people in the Republic of Macedonia” will be organized. The aim of this conference is to present the findings of the analysis and to generate recommendations for improvement of the young people’s life in Macedonia according to the research data.

The project is being supported with the CIVICA Mobilitas programme, and as well by the Agensy for youth and sport and the Coalition of youth organizations SEGA.

The Conference will be held on the 12th of November (Friday) 2010, starting at 11:00 in the hotel Holiday Inn, Skopje.

Adopted LYS in the field of culture for the city of Prilep

On 04 June 2010 the Municipal Council of Prilep unanimously adopted the Local Youth Strategy in the field of culture for the city of Prilep on a regular session. With the adoption of this document the Local Self-Government of Prilep is the first Local Self-Government in the Republic of Macedonia having prepared and adopted youth strategy in the field of culture.

The project Local Youth Strategy in the field of culture in the city of Prilep was implemented by the Coalition SEGA in the period of 01 December 2009 – 31 March 2010 and financially supported by the Ministry of Culture within the Government of the Republic of Macedonia.

Project: Research on the Youth trends in R. Macedonia

On 01 April 2010, the Coalition of youth organizations SEGA started the implementation of the project “Research on the Youth trends in Republic of Macedonia”. The project will be implemented in the period of 6 months, supported with the programme CIVICA Mobilitas - implemented by CIRA and financed by SDC.

The aim of the project is to contribute in creating and implementing youth policies in Republic of Macedonia.

During the project implementation a research of representative sample on youth will be conducted, mapping on local organizations and institutions will be realized, also regional focus groups will be organized, interviews with representatives of national institutions and organizations will be conducted and national discussion on the subject of this research will be organized as well.

This research will provide information about the Youth trends and needs in Macedonia.

The research will be conducted in 13 cities in Republic of Macedonia: Bitola, Debar, Kavadarci, Kisela Voda, Kumanovo, Ohrid, Prilep, Sveti Nikole, Struga, Strumica, Tetovo, Cair and Stip.

Organized Public Discussion

On 31 March 2010 in the premises of the Local Self-Government in Prilep, a Public Discussion on the Draft  youth strategy in the area of culture for Prilep was organized. This activity is being organized within the project “Local youth strategy in the area of culture for the municipality of Prilep” implemented by the Coalition of youth organizations SEGA, and financed by the Ministry for culture of RM.

The aim of this Public Discussion was to secure wider involvement of the public, cultural institutions, and especially youth in creating policies.

 

At the event representatives of the Local Self-Government, cultural institutions, high school and university students participated and gave several remarks on the strategy. The remarks will be submitted to the participants of the working group which will decide which of the remarks will be accepted or not.
