In the period of 01 - 05 May 2013 in Caen, Lower Normandy – France, a study visit “Local and regional network in the field of youth employment” was organized. Zoran Ilieski – Coalition of youth organizations SEGA and Antonio Karalanov – Department for international cooperation took participation in this activity; also this activity was supported by Civil Society organizations and foundations in the City of Skopje.
Experiences for the current local youth policies and the models for employment were shared on this study visit; also the opportunity for future cooperation at local, regional and national level was reviewed among the guests from Lower Normandy – France and Macedonia in the field of youth employment.
This activity is part of the Axe II “Youth, Education, Local and European citizenship” within the “Project for decentralized cooperation between R. Macedonia and the region “Lower Normandy from France”, managed by the Association for Local Democracy Agencies, and implemented by the Coalition of youth organizations SEGA – Macedonia and the European House from Caen – France.

Prilep, 22 May 2013) INFO SEGA and Youth Council Prilep organized Video Conference “Europe Calling” within the project “Let’s celebrate Europe”, supported by the EU Info Center in Macedonia. This project aims to raise the awareness and to promote European culture and values among youth. The video conference was held in the premises of INFO SEGA and was attended by 20 young people and professors of the Gymnasium Mirce Acev – Prilep.
The event was organized in cooperation with the European House (Maison de l’Europe) of Caen, Lower Normandy, and one high school from Caen. At the video conference youth from both countries presented their schools and home cities, and have discussed on topics such as European values, tolerance, European citizenship etc. Special part of the video conference was dedicated to celebration of 09th of May – Europe Day in Macedonia and France.
This event enabled young people, from two different parts of Europe, to exchange their experiences and views on European citizenship and nourishing European values among youth.
Within the project “Let’s celebrate Europe” music happening will be organized on the 31st May 2013 in the city center of Prilep where young artist will present themselves.

The Coalition of youth organizations SEGA in cooperation with the Peace Corps volunteers in Macedonia implements the Macedonia Model United Nations (MMUN) programme supported by the US Embassy in Macedonia. The MMUN Programme aims to strengthen the capacities of young people in Macedonia in advocacy, lobbying, diplomacy, conflict resolution, public speaking and writing.
On the 18 of May 2013, SEGA organized annual national Conference of the Macedonia Model United Nations at the Faculty of Economics in Prilep with over 160 students from high schools and universities across Macedonia. Within the Conference Youth Leadership Fair was organized where different institutions and organizations were able to present their activities and services they provide for young people.
Several key speakers introduced the participants in the Conference during the official opening ceremonies: Mr. Stephen Kutzy – Country Director of Peace Corps Macedonia, Mr. Gjorgji Manchevski – Dean of the Faculty of Economics in Prilep, Mr. Zoran Ilieski – Executive Director of SEGA, and Ms. Anastasija Stojchevska – Secretary General of the MMUN 2013 Conference.
Delegates simulated the following UN committees and bodies: Economic and Social Council, Security Council, Human Rights Council, United Nations Children’s Fund, United Nations Development Programme, United Nations Women, and General Assembly.
Each committee selected best delegates which were awarded with special certificates.
This conference is the culmination of the Model United Nations program, and an opportunity for students to put all their training and preparation into action in a simulation of the real United Nations.

Within the campaign “Improving youth participation NOW” on 21st of May 2013 in the hall of the City Library “Borka Taleski” – Prilep a public debate was organized on the subject “Youth participation at the local level”. On this public debate the European Chapter on the participation of young people in Local and Regional Life was presented; also the need for youth participation and the mechanisms that function in Prilep municipality were discussed. The main speakers of this public debate were: Anastasija Ilieska – Counselor in the Prilep municipality Counsel, Aleksandar Jovanoski – representative from the Local self-government Prilep and Zoran Ilieski – Executive director of the Coalition of youth organizations SEGA.
During the month of May, public debates on the subject Youth participation will be organized in Skopje, Bitola and Stip, and during the month of June, events for graphite drawing and open days in the Local self-governments will be organized.
The campaign “Improving youth participation NOW” is implemented within the Annual programme of Coalition SEGA. The aim of the campaign is to inform young people for the model of youth participation and together with young people to encourage decision makers to guarantee their right to participation.

During the period of March 2013 – March 2014, the Coalition of youth organizations SEGA in partnership with the National Center for Community Services (NCCS) from Albania implements the project “Youth without borders”, financed by the European Union through the IPA Cross-border Programme Macedonia Albania. The main aim of this project is to promote effective collaboration between the civil society actors towards fruitful social development in the CBC region. Within this project, SEGA and NCCS will conduct capacity building programme for youth CSOs in the period of June 2013 – February 2014. The programme will focus on strengthening the capacities of the organizations as a whole and will foresee continuous support which will obtain several segments of the organization’s work, through trainings, consultative support and workshops. Besides the capacity building the programme will encourage cooperation, networking and partnership between the selected CSOs from Macedonia and Albania. The aim of the programme is to enhance the effectiveness, influence and the capacity of the CSOs which are similar in their work, as well as to produce joint ideas for future EU projects.
The capacity building programme will include the following activities:
- Networking event
- Training in Organizational Sustainability
- Training for Lobbying and Advocacy
- Training in preparation of EU projects
- 4 workshops for preparation of joint projects
- Ongoing consultative support
With this call we encourage civic organizations from the region of Pelagonia, including Ohrid and Struga to apply for participation in the capacity building programme. The organizations that want to apply must fill and send Application along with copy of official registration document. Through this call we will select 5 CSOs that will further be target of the capacity building process.
The final selection will be based on the following criteria:
- Minimum existence of 3 years
- Previous experience in international projects (the project encourages participation of CSOs that have little or no experience in EU projects)
- Motivation for work in networks and partnerships
- Membership of young people in the organization
- Target group (Advantage will be given to CSOs that work with marginalized youth)
Deadline for applying is 24 May 2013, 16:00 at the latest.
The organizations that will apply will be informed on the results by 28 May 2013.
Late and uncompleted applications will not be reviewed.
